Aadukalam - Mind Game Mastered

Aadukalam, as the name denotes the play ground - Vetri Maran had come up with yet another creation which adds one more feather to his cap. The director had mastered the story telling technique by stitching in the modern day techniques with reality and emotions. Using the backdrop of people indulging in "Seval Sandai" - "Cock Fighting" at a small village in madurai, he (director) not only portrays the life of people involved in it but also the emotions and thought process tied to it. It may be a mear cock fight, but there are people who live for it.

Karuppu (Dhanush) fits in the role of a Cock-jockey and is part of a team headed by vettaikaran, veteren in cock fighting who still holds an unbeatable title. If karuppu lives for only one thing in this world, then it's for his passion towards his rooster until he meets an anglo indian 'pumpkin' girl. The stakes are beautifully loaded when the rathnam rooster team (Opponents) tries to pull vettaikaran team into the rooster fight for reclaiming their decade long lost glory. It is at this moment, the director got some romance scenes for the actor to sail him through the story and finally brings in a great visual of rooster fighting right before the first half of the movie.

Unable to digest what was won and what was lost, the movie takes the audience to the edge by showcasing the decisions that a normal human being would take inorder to not only survive, but to control things around..
Vetri maran continues to sow the good side of his villians in the movie, and has placed karauppu in a total mess which he tries to clear in the later half of the movie. It would require a great thought process to end a movie like aadukalam and vetri maran had done it in style. It's a must watch for fun, games, romance, sentiment, friendship and betrayal. Overall, it's a mind game and it's a hit - Must Watch!
